Diamond Shapes

There are many different shapes of diamonds: Princess, Marquise, Emerald, Heart, Round Brilliant, Asscher, Cushion, Oval, Pear, Radiant.

The Precious Cut

“The Precious Cut” equals the highest quality cut. It means optimum brilliance, optimum symmetry, optimum light performance, optimum beauty.

All Precious diamonds are “Precious Cut” quality.

To qualify for the attribute “Precious Cut” a diamond must fulfill very strict requirements. First and foremost the symmetry of the diamond must be perfect, as the smallest deviation can disturb its beauty. Furthermore, the proportions, angles and finish must adhere to very precise limits.

“First, note the perfect symmetry in the mosaic pattern of reflections. That’s striking visual proof of superb craftsmanship. Next, the sharp contrast between the broad arrows and the many reflections from the half facets in between predict this diamond’s superior scintillation. Then, observe the balance between the areas of the mains and halves. This balance causes this diamond to retain the beautiful broad-flash brilliance and fire of its forerunner, the Old European cut, while exhibiting much superior scintillation. All these things reveal a diamond that represents the culmination of the cutter’s quest for ideal beauty.” gemological researcher Michael Cowing, Crownsville, Maryland.

Here’s what a “Hearts and Arrows” pattern looks like when viewed through the crown and the pavilion.

Proportions & The Origins of Beauty

In 1919, a Russian scientist developed a set of diamond proportions and symmetries.
These guidelines ensured that a diamond would realise its fullest brilliance and allowed cutters to create the most beautiful diamonds in the world…..at that time.

The second millennium heralded yet another leap forward in cut quality.

The fire, brilliance and scintillation you enjoy now is unparalleled.

Symmetry

For a diamond to be truly beautiful each facet must have its matching pair.

Symmetry means equality between corresponding parts of a stone. All Precious diamonds have perfect symmetry. Perfect symmetry requires perfect polishing of facets; perfectly aligned facets; facets which point perfectly; perfectly shaped facets; perfectly centered tables and culets; round girdle outlines; tables perfectly parallel to girdle planes; perfectly aligned girdles.

Depth

The depth of a diamond is crucial for its brilliance. The depth needs to be in perfect proportion with its diameter to optimise fire, brilliance and scintillation.

The height of a gemstone measured from the culet to the table.

Polish

This is the icing on the cake. Polishing is the final stage in the crafting of a diamond. Every facet should be a perfectly smooth looking glass, a window into the heart of your diamond.
Diamonds take and keep the best polish of any gem.

For maximum brilliance, sharp scintillation, and clear dynamic contrast and fire, excellent polish is essential.

Precise cutting and high quality of polish allows Precious diamonds to reach their full potential.
