Welcome to my blog. After much nudging and persuading by esteemed bloggers and social media gurus (Damien Mulley, Brian Honan, Ian Cleary, Fred from Channelship … the list goes on), I have finally succumbed and started to write a blog. It’ll be all about Diamonds. I’m passionate about Diamonds.
I come from
Diamond stock, my father established his first workshop in Dublin in 1958 and was a former Chairman of the Federation of Jewellery Manufacturers of Ireland. I have spent years searching for the finest cut quality diamonds and I’m thrilled to be working with them on a daily basis.
To be honest I’m a bit of a Diamond nerd but I’ll try my best to not get all nerdy on you. The best part of what I do is to design a ring that reflects a very significant time in someone’s life. With the couple involved we create the ring of their dreams – and often it lives in my dreams too while I’m designing it! Designing rings and sourcing Diamonds fascinates me. Truth is I get a little obsessed with ring design, I always think – how can I make this unique and personalise the ring?
A client requested a radiant cut diamond, and I found a Diamond cutter with a really spectacular Radiant, so I designed the ring in platinum around the stone, sounds obvious but in this case the head, the shoulders, the band, each part of the ring reflected the radiant design – great fun? Yes! Obsessive compulsive? Perhaps!
Hopefully my readers and the aforementioned social media gurus will read and enjoy my Diamond musings. All comments are gratefully accepted.

A diamond nerd eh? I love it.
Congrats on the new blog. It’s a really exciting industry you work in – one that was on my mind this evening, so I will be watching your posts with interest. Congrats on getting started.
Hi Eoin, I enjoyed your diamond musings, keep them coming.
How do you verify that your diamonds are fairly traded (e.g. Kimberley Process), and not “blood diamonds” etc.?
[...] Diamond in your mind and now on a blog. [...]
Hey, well done in getting your blog off the ground. Just picked up your blog launch on Damien’s blog update. I look forward to more musings on diamonds – after they are a girls best friend
Good luck, Sharon
Hi Eoin,
This is an excellent first blog. Plenty of personality it it. It shows your passion for diamonds. Love the photo too! Having known you for quite some time, I can guarantee the readers of your blog that you’re not a nerd! I look forward to seeing continued sparkling wit in your blogs!
Best wishes,
Fiona.
Hi Click Here, thanks for reading my blog, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to discuss this. This is an issue very close to home as Trish is originally from Sierra Leone. When I first considered Diamonds I had the same question. The Kimberley Process is a great idea for rough (uncut) Diamonds but for polished diamonds…
How I ensure my diamonds are conflict free is
first by knowing my cutters … personally
second by insisting every single diamond I receive has the following accompanying statement: “The Diamonds herein have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with U.N. resolutions”
and last by ensuring a very tight/small supply chain, so rather than the traditional chain where the diamond passes from mine to cutter to diamond wholesaler to diamond retailer to jewellery manufacturer to jewellery wholesaler to jewellery retailer … I work directly with the cutter.
I sign a personal guarantee with every Diamond, and piece of Diamond jewellery and give this to the people who purchase from me.
I hope this answers your question, if you have more please feel free to email me at Diamonds@Precious.ie
Hi Eoin,
Many thanks for your reply to my query! I’m relieved to hear about Precious Diamonds’ commitment to ensuring their diamonds are ethically sourced – I wasn’t aware of the complexity involved in the typical chain of supply. That could definitely leave room for conflict diamonds to slip in, even for jewellers who would seek to ensure they’re not receiving them.
Thanks again, and good luck with the blog! I’ll spread the word about the company to anyone who’s on the hunt for a rock.
: )
